PRODUCTION

DIARY

WEEK 1

In the first week of production, we looked at how to interview people for our documentary. We learned how to arrange the interviewer and the person being interviewed. The person being interviewed should be positioned at an angle as it makes the interview look more natural. The person asking the questions should be positioned next to the camera so the person being interviewed looks at them, not into the camera.

WEEK 2

In the second week of production, I began the Treatment for the 3 minute documentary. I am going to base my documentary on the Micro-transaction business model that game developers use and how their use can effect people. The main focus of the documentary will be EA's use of micro transactions in Star Wars Battlefront 2 and how the company was investigated by authorities around the world for breaking numerous gambling laws.

WEEK 3

I began to research the topic and found other examples of the system being misused. I also found examples of people protesting and boycotting companies. I began to write the audio visual script for the documentary, using the Star Wars Battlefront 2 controversy as a basis.

I began filming my documentary in week 3. James was the speaker for my documentary. I shot him against the green screen so I could replace the background when editing the documentary. Filming took around 30 minutes to complete, which was shorter than the anticipated hour of filming.

WEEK 4

In week 4, I began editing the documentary in Premiere Pro.

WEEK 5

In week 5, I re-recorded the documentary due to the poor sound quality of the initial recording. I also re-edited the documentary.
