Robert Richardson is an American Cinematographer, born in Massachusetts in 1955. He has won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography three times for his work on Hugo, JFK and The Aviator. He frequently collaborates with directors Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Oliver Stone and John Sayles.

He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Film and Video. He started his career as a camera operator on films such as A Nightmare on Elm Street and Making the Grade. His first cinematography credit is on Oliver Stone's Salvador. The same year, he worked on Platoon, also directed by Oliver Stone. He received his first Academy Award nomination for cinematography for his work on Platoon. In 1991, he won his first Academy Award for Cinematography for his work on JFK.

He began working with Martin Scorsese in 1995, after working on Casino. He worked with Scorsese on his other films such as Bringing Out the Dead, The Aviator, Shutter Island and Hugo. He also frequently collaborates with Quentin Tarantino, working on Kill Bill Volume 1 and 2, Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

The thing I found interesting about Robert Richardson's work is that his cinematography is creative and stylish. His cinematography makes the films he works on look more interesting visually and help tell the story.

EMMANUEL

LUBEZKI

Emanuel Lubezki is a Mexican cinematographer, born in Mexico City in 1964. He has worked with directors such as Tim Burton, Michael Mann, The Coen Brothers and Mike Nichols. He frequently collaborates with Terrence Malick, Alfonso Cuaron and Alejandro Gonzalez.

He is known for his use of continuous shots and natural lighting, both frequently used in his work during The Revenant. He has been nominated for an Academy Award 8 times, winning 3 times for his work on Gravity, Birdman and The Revenant.

He began his career in Mexican television in the 1980's. His first credit as a cinematographer was on Twenty Bucks, an independent film telling the story of a $20 Dollar Bill. He won his first Academy Award for Cinematography for Gravity. The film was praised for it continuous shots and illusions used to make the shots appear continuous.

His cinematography in The Revenant was praised for the continuous shots, minimal use of CGI and the setting of the wilderness.

The thing I found interesting about Emmanuel Lubezki is his use of continuous shots. Continuous shots make scenes more interesting visually. Also, Lubezki's work in Gravity is interesting, due to the amount of special effects used to create the cinematography. The way he used special effects in his cinematography is interesting.
