PRODUCERS

STANLEY
KUBRICK

Stanley-Kubrick-2001-A-Space-Odyssey-920

Stanley Kubrick was an American producer, director and screenwriter. He was born in New York City in 1928. He began his career as a photographer for LOOK magazine in 1946. He became well known for his story-telling in his photographs.

Kubrick started his film career in 1951, he began to produce short documentaries. He then began to learn about all of the aspects of film making on his own. In 1968, he directed 2001: A Space Oddyssey. The film was praised for its special effects and its direction.

During his career he directed and produced films such as Dr Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut. He is regarded as one of the most iconic an influential directors of all time.  Historian Michel Ciment noted that Kubrick's films are among the most important contributions to world cinema in the twentieth century. Directors such as Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron and Ridley Scott have said that Kubrick was a source of inspiration.

The thing I found interesting about Stanley kubricks's work is that his films still feel modern and relevant today. For example, 2001: A Space Odyssey, released in 1968 has special effects and visuals that still hold up to this day.

BARBARA

BROCCOLI

Barbara Broccoli is an English film producer, born in Los Angeles in 1960. She is the daughter of producer Albert R.Broccoli, the founder of Eon Productions and the producer of many of the James Bond films. In 1995, he handed over control of Eon Productions to Barbara and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson.

Barbara Broccoli started her career at the age of 17, working for the publicity department for The Spy Who Loved Me. She was an assistant director for Octopussy and associate producer of The Living Daylights. She has produced 8 James Bond films and currently producing Bond 25.

As well as working in the film industry, she has produced stage plays.  In 1996, she began development of a theatre version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The show opened in 2002 in the London Palladium, and became the most financially successful show to play there. The show was a critical and commercial success in the UK and Asia, but failed to make money on its $15 million investment in the US.

In 2012, she co-produced Chariots Of Fire, a stage adaptation of the 1981 film. She had originally read the script to the film in 1980. She co-financed the film and became its executive producer. She co-produced the play with Hugh Hudson, the director of the original film.

The thing I found interesting about Barbara Broccoli is that she still works in the James Bond franchise, which she has been a part of since she was 17 years old and since then she has had so many roles within the production of them. She has had roles such as producer, assistant director, associate producer and publicity.
