EDWARD DE BONO

THE SIX HATS

The six thinking hats is a parallel thinking process created by Edward De Bono. It helps people become productive and focused. Each thinking role is identified with a colored symbolic 'thinking hat'. By mentally 'wearing' and switching hats, you can focus and redirect thoughts.

THE WHITE HAT:

The white hat calls for information that is known or needed.

THE YELLOW HAT:

The yellow hat signifies brightness and optimism. Using this hat helps you explore positives.

THE BLACK HAT:

The black hat signifies judgement - to play the devils advocate or to why something may not work. It helps you spot the dangers and difficulties, where things may go wrong.

THE RED HAT:

The Red hat signifies feelings, intuition and hunches. When using this hat, you can express emotions, feelings and share fears, likes, dislikes, loves and hates.

THE GREEN HAT:

The Green hat focuses on creativity, the possibilities, alternatives and new ideas. When wearing it, you can express new concepts and new perceptions.

THE BLUE HAT:

The Blue hat is used to manage your thinking process. Its the control mechanism that ensures the six hats thinking guidelines are observed.

The Six Hats thinking process aims to make people consider issues, problems, decisions and opportunities, stimulate innovation by generating more and better ideas quickly, think clearly and objectively, make thorough evaluations and see all sides of a situation.
