CONFESSION

Confession is in the dark comedy/ thriller genre. To act in this genre, the actors will need to be able to convey fear, humor, horror and sadness. If I could cast anybody to be in the film, I would choose Jake Gyllenhall as the husband. This is because Jake Gyllenhall has starred in numerous thriller films in the past, such as Nightcrawler and Prisoners and has given good performances in the roles that he plays. I would also choose Jennifer Lawrence to play the wife as she has acted in thrillers before, such as Red Sparrow and Mother.

FILMING
TECHNIQUES

CAMERA SHOTS

When filming Confession, we will use a single camera setup. In thriller films, shots such as extreme close ups and tracking shots are used. Extreme close ups show the emotions the characters are feeling, and can be used to make scenes more dramatic. Medium shots are also used in thriller films as they show more than a close up shot and show less than a wide shot.

CAMERA MOVEMENT

In thriller films, tracking shots are used as they can build tension and suspense due to the minimal amount of cuts, making it seem almost like raw footage.

Thriller films also utilize camera zooms to create suspense. The camera could zoom in on a characters face to show their emotion, or zoom in on important things within a scene.

LIGHTING

Thriller films are usually dimly lit, making the scenes dark for atmosphere and tension. When making Confession, the scenes will have minimal lighting or natural light to make the scenes have a dark atmosphere.
